1070 or 1080

Would this specefic palit 1070 with an OC be able to beat the msi aero 1080? They are the same price at £400.

The 1080 is a blower style.. so hotter?
Or can the new vega cards compete for the same price

Id wait for Vega as well & see either if the prices drop on the 1070 or 1080 before going for a new gpu or too see if AMD manages too bring itself up too the compatition with a gpu beating the 1080 in price & performance & sticks between the 1080 ti & gtx 1080.

But for the gtx 1080 i recall the founders edition clocking closer too 2 ghz on the reference cooler.
(reaching 85 - 90c on temperatures then) & the theoretical numbers aren't that good at showing an actual performance difference.

Id expect a gap between the two is still present even if you overclock the gtx 1070 as high as you can on that third party cooler while the reference 1080 remains at its default settings + boost.
+ there are third party coolers you can fit on too the gtx 1080 later if you are chasing less noise & lower temperatures.

overclocked gtx 1080 run not a max overclock it seems but rather higher then a middle ground in the upper limits of the card.

amd's flagship gpu die. hopefully it will sit right between the regular gtx 1080 & 1080ti. or between the 1070 & 1080
