Finally got round to cloning Facepunch's rating system for XenForo (4 hours well spent a lot more than that now ) - if I haven't messed up the permissions you should be able to rate posts just like on FP

I've just released an update and installed it here - relevant bits of the changelog are in bold:

• New: XenPorta Article comment support
• New: Added integration with Member list page (rating counts displayed in place of like count)

• New: Optional 'Ratings You've Received' page to replace 'Likes You've Received'

• New: Added option to soft hide post (looks roughly like soft deleted) after x negative ratings

• New: Per-rating option to allow it to be used only on the first post a thread
• Improved tooltips on rating input bar - now uses XenForo tooltip system
• Thumb-down.png rating image now included in release package for those who want to set up a generic 'dislike' rating
• Rating type (positive/negative/neutral) totals are no longer shown if none of that type of rating exist
• Fixed/improved use of terms 'your post' and 'you rated', and fixed doubled up word 'post' in news feed items
• Fixed error when the selected like rating was not whitelisted in a given forum
• List view rating totals now formatted with xen:number
• Reduced member card queries by 1

 

I'll be adding the 'bad spelling' rating, as I feel it will be hugely useful here..​

 

So you tell him to use 'qotes' correctly (I don't even know how you managed to misspell it as you had to fucking click on it to even quote) and then you say '@Rioter' - the definition of the incorrect usage of quoting. Practice what you preach.

 

It's a fucking miracle everything stayed intact (at least I hope so) - took copious amounts of sql wizardry :v

• Completely new admin interface
• Completely changed how ratings are stored, again
• Criteria system integration (notices, trophies, group promotions, etc.)
• Changed order of users in rating details to oldest first
• Rating definitions now stored in table (and cached)
• Disabled ratings are no longer shown individually on user profiles however they continue to count towards totals

 

Appears the permissions code isn't totally bug free so deleted cookie's sweaty ratings and banned instead

 

The icons are free and it was a totally clean room implementation so I don't see any problem.

 

Should Agree be a positive rating or stay neutral as it is now?

Agree = positive
Disagree = neutral

 

Relatively small update...

• Like rating now integrates with XenForo like system for input as well as output (likes are back on)
• Fixed a number of IE7 and 8 rendering issues
• Ratings input bar now kept displayed after rating until mouse leaves post following ajax completion
• Made option to toggle likes display as rating on profile

 

I've made a list that will hopefully help people understand the ratings a little bit better. Of course a lot of them are open to interpretation, but these are my take on them:

Agree: When someone makes a post you agree with. Example.
Disagree: When someone makes a post you disagree with. Example.
Funny: When a post is jocular or amusing, either intentionally or unintentionally. Example.
Zing: This word has replaced 'owned!', it is used when someone has come up with a witty retort relating to someone else, but in a derogatory manner. Example.
Wizard: This is our GM version of the 'Winner' rating, it is used when someone has done something that requires immense effort or skill. Example.
Informative: When a post has been very explanatory or illuminating in nature. Example.
Friendly: Used when a post has been kind or loving.
Useful: This one is quite self-explanatory, use it when you have found a post helpful (or when you think the user is a tool )
Optimistic: This is used both when a post is being unrealistic or unpractical, and also when the user is being 'gay' (in both senses of the word) Example.
Sweat: This rating was added thanks to DanCousins, while the word is still shrouded in mystery, it seems to relate to gaming, when a user has done something I'll edit this with Dans explanation later.
Creative: Used when a post has been imaginative or artistic. Example.
Late: Used when someone has made a post that is behind the times. Example.
Bad Spelling: Used when a post has excessively bad spelling or grammar. Example.
Douglas: This is our GM version of the 'Stupid' rating, it is used when someone has done or said something moronic. Example.

I didn't think it would take an hour to make that post, but it did
