Any pixel art/sprite/icon wizards in GM?

What I want to do is similar to Facepunch - replacing the forum read/unread icons with individual icons.


Size should be from 28x28px to 40x40px. Does not need to be square. Does not need to be padded to 48x48.

Obviously only one per forum is needed (only the unread/fully coloured/normal version), read status will be shown through CSS opacity or imagemagick saturation something completely separate to the icon.

I am open to both original art or someone well versed with existing icon packs to find suitable icons. The most important thing is that they do not have the retarded glowy gradient vector shite effects of 99% of icons you find on a google search. No vista-inspired shit. No icons that are blatantly 256x256 downscales. I want what Facepunch has - either pixel art or a larger equivalent of Silk icons (to be fair these are pixel art afaik but you can see what I mean).

Might be a good idea if this were a group effort, so post things you find or make as you go, like just a few or even one at a time.

I'm only interested in doing this for the public forums, so no forums under the 'Private Forums' section (if you can see it).
You only need to do main forums - sub-forums I will be doing myself at some point using 16x16px game icons and Silk icons.

Thought up a much better alternative to show read/unread status, so no faint icons or shit which ruin the look

 

Found icons for other games and events, though I think the events one needs replacing with a better one

In fact fuck it they're both shit, someone replace pls

Ideas:

- Random: a cactus?
- Server/Website chat: html5 logo
- Hardware and Software: a generic monitor/computer/laptop icon
- Events: a fucking calendar

 

actually chrome/firefox icon would be quite effective

anything but ie
