    CoD 4 or 2142? Vote for your new GM server here!

    OK, so we've all been talking about what game [GM] should be moving into next to expand it's repertoire of servers and we've come to the two main choices:

    Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

    Battlefield 2142


    Choose which one you believe would be the best for team work, community spirit and fun :3 This poll will run for the next 3 days to give people a chance to play the games and think more about what they would want :3

    NOTE: This is just in the discussion phase and we're still seeing if we can find the resources (well, Darki is :P) to actually run one of these games/ if it would be popular enough so don't expect it to happen overnight! :P

    Keeping in mind I'll do everything in my power to get us ranked BF2142 servers :)




    Also going by this and some info on KC's forums, we should be able to run 2x 64 slot servers :D (one titan, one normal - titan takes 1.5x the requirements), or any other combination of about 128 slots. Just not too many titan servers. :P


    And the best bit is that BF2142 is epicly smooth on modern hardware - my 3.0ghz C2D and 8800GTS can happily run it at max graphics and 4xAA (the highest it'll go - 8x doesn't work :/) at what looks like 120 or so FPS. :D

    And if you're going to buy it from the EA Store (or whatever they call it now) rest assured that the policy where you can only download it 6 months after purchase is nothing to worry about. It happily accepted a copy of Northern Strike I found on Warez-BB (uncracked of course). :)

    I racked up 756hrs on 2142

    WTF BF2142 is shit, if this was BF2 then I might have been a hard choice, but COD:MW for me.

    I really find it hard to believe that BF2142 is winning the poll, has everyone just gone mad?

    I would have chose COD4, but it's shitty punkbuster implementation kicks me from every server.

    But... if BF2 were here, that'd be my choice

    CoD (in any version) is an absolute standard multiplayer shoter :/

    BF is more chalanging and is depending on real teamplay (from what i know from BF1942 and BF2, havent played 2142 yet) and nonstop communication with your team commander .... + the Titan mode shall be fun from what i have heared from some friends.

    So BF is geting a +1 from me ......... and i have to buy it then, dont own the 2142 version xD

    Well I haven't played 2142 in a little while, but I got 242 hours on it =)

    It requires the teams to really work together, as running out on your own will only get you killed. My k/d is something like 0.8 but I have loads of fun ^_^

    It's got a one-click kind of communication system, including in-depth radar and tactical controls..each team can have a commander, who basically gives out orders to each squad, and calls in additional logistics etc etc.

    The biggest server I think I've played on was 64-players..now I'm not sure how it is resource-wise, but that's some insane combat XD I think the optimal is around 24, and at a stretch 32.

    I have some trouble with my graphics card messing up with anti-aliasing on, but other than that it runs like a dream on my system :)

    I've got 0 hours :P (just started a new solider) so I'll have to train myself up a bit :(

    So what are we gonna have then? Maybe two 32 slot servers and a 64?
