I'd really recommend playing LoL for learning the basics of MOBA games. Dota 2 I feel is extremely convoluted for new players, there's just so many mechanics to learn that it can bog you down a little bit too much. LoL feels sharper and is significantly streamlined (in a really good way, for once) by comparison, allowing you to focus on the core tactics/gameplay of every MOBA game. Either way, picking ranged champions is definitely a good place to start, that "breathing space" like you said helps make up for new player mistakes etc. Like Bam said, perhaps the most important thing to learn right now is last-hitting minions as that's your greatest source of gold in order to build the items that then allow you to kill enemies easily. If you can avoid dying early on, that's possibly even more important than killing enemy players.
Apparently I have Dota 2 now as well. Though it does not show in the library at first. Dl it now and it's there now.. But still weird.
I'm just going to start giving them to random people on my friends list, seeing as 90% of them own it already anyway.
Poor friend, even my dog has a dota key. But really, everyone with dota2 gets new keys like every month. Why did valve even bother with the keys anyways?
To control the stream of players coming in to their servers as they improve their infrastructure for the full release.
There's a good bunch of people on my friends list playing it, and a few guys on my course have made the leap from LoL to it so i'd say there's a fair few people playing it from my experience anyways
Well, they wouldn't go for this approach if they knew their infrastructure could handle it right away I'd think.
