Thought it was a great idea and it should be used more. Stuff like, remember the OSU event coming up tonight at 8pm GMT or something with a link to the event sign up page. I don't know if it's been like this for awhile, but I just noticed it. It's awesome.
If I had all the power I'd use notices because they're easier to notice and can be dismissed by user if an admin has decided so.

Yeah that's true. However, everyone isn't just used to read slothbox's motd so some people may miss it althogh they would be interested in it.
