    Ye, just install a retail version, i asked a friend about your case (hardcore linux geek ^^, the sort of people that like to installt ~every week a new linux distribution/change stuff by themselve), and it just doesnt make any sense to him.

    Maybee some shitty third party software and/or driver are causing a 1 in a million times error that noone can redo on his own system(s), and you just have some bad luck ....... or just blame Win7 itself, the "third Service Pack for Vista" fails hard. >_>


    (But ill install Steam on my MC Pro Win 7 installation today and test it by myself)

    full version is out tomorrow so no reason to install retail one now. Maybe microsoft also improved performance of the OS and killed some bugs, anyway piratebay will help me to find out:mmmhmm:

    installed the last official release of Win 7 (7600.16385.090713-1255) without any addons and etc, just pure OS...and it's still lagging!!! no idea what is going on:cry:

    For example, my BIOS enforces an FMT (Fast Multimedia Timer) by default.


    And +showbudget (requires sv_cheats 1) will show what part of the game engine is contributing most to FPS loss.

    need to find such server)

    btw:installed l4d and it seems that i have the same problem there, or maybe these are only ordinary lags, anyway they doesn't effect gameplay as much as in tf....

    If the problem doesn't happen on a listen server with a few bots, then that totally changes the possible causes.

    well, it seems that the lagging depends on the amount of internet traffic on a server. I played with a couple of people and lags were not very often, however on big servers when about 30 people r playing and big amount of data is generated, it happens rather often

    my weird russian internet works fine everywhere except tf


    obviously it is, but i installed 2 different versions. it means there is some confrontation between hardware and win 7 network options...
