So, I'm tired of having to share the family computer. I have £200 saved up, and I want to spend it on a decent computer. I really know nothing about PC's at all and any help would mean a great deal to me. All I need is a computer that can run games such as tf2/minecraft without too much strain on medium to high settings Thank you
£200 probably won't cut it really. Even building a computer from scratch won't do much unless you had things already like a case or hard drive etc. Though I could be surprised. Not trying to put you down or anything, but imo, you probably need a bit more cash.
good luck Edit: maybe you want to start with this: http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/162801/amd-a8-5600k It has a built in graphics card (better than the intel dual core for about the same price) that can play easily tf2 and stuff. Search for a cheap case with ~500W. The motherboard costs about the same as the processor so i dunno if possible.
You're going to need more than £200 to spend if you have nothing to work with in terms of salvageable parts (assuming the family PC is staying as it is). Would suggest saving up £500-£700.
you dont need a 700quid machine to run shitcraft and shitfortress2 check the hardware requirements for both games: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Hardware_requirements http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/ Then take your £200 and look for a second hand machine that has the spec's. Bare in mind such a machine will probably be complete shit for anything else that's more demanding, and you won't have any clue as to the condition of it until it blue screens on you a week later. Then you've learnt a hard lesson about instant gratification etc. :profit:
spend more on a PC now, will last longer than a lower spec machine. my old gaming rig did me 3 years before i saved up.
From scratch? You'll need double your budget and even then you'll be scraping by Peripherals/monitor too? Triple your budget.
