So, I've been wanting to get into anime for a while and I plan on following the new RWBY series being published by RoosterTeeth as well as I can. Before you go crazy I realise that this is not going to be a 'proper' anime so to speak and so I wondered if there was a particular series that I would benefit from watching that would keep me interested and whatnot. I'd prefer one in English and without subtitles however again I realise that there most likely won't be many and again, they won't class as a 'proper' anime. Anyhow, any feedback on the topic would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to your responses!
One Piece, Toriko, Fairy Tail, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, Accel World, Sword Art Online, Elfen Leid, Code Geass and probably some others I forgot.. <.< Some will dislike but I thought they were okay: Bleach Naruto Shippuden.
the main character may have the shinji syndrome but it's about just as good as sword art online; shit but enjoyable to watch
Go find the 'my anime list' thread on here and look at the profiles. Maybe they have sone favourites/recomended animes on there.
Went on a Ghibli binge recently, watched Spirited Away, Kiki's delivery service, my neighbour totoro, Howl's moving castle and princess monoke over two evenings. Fucking excellent films, would recommend to anybody.
... You know what? Just watch Code Geass and Steins;Gate. They've got some of the best English dubs I've ever heard in an anime, along with Soul Eater and Digimon Tamers.
This is genuinely really helpful, thanks! And I've realised my mistake in wanting to watch dubs instead of subs now
Samurai Champloo is pretty good if you're interested in japanese history/folklore etc in the edo period and around it, mixed with hip hop and some seriously intence fights, the ending is satisfying and ties up any loose ends, sound track is chill as fuck too Edit: Also holy shit Attack on Titan, do it.
I recommend 'hentai' if you are looking for some fabulous anime to watch, some are OVA and there are some really good series for them. Recommended to male teens and adults for a good reason.
