    Ping is constantly 40-60 in any UK server, wat.

    Sup

    I always get a ping somewhere between 40-60 on UK servers, whilst my friends get about 20-35 ping and they live in roughly the same location as me, I have a better internet speed than them as well. It also seems that they can join american servers whilst maintaining a ping lower than 80, I get about 200 ping when joining an American server. D:

    I am just wondering, what the fuck is going on? It's even like this after a format AND when all other programs are closed.

    I just find it disturbing because I can't find the cause, exchange zone maybe? I used to get the same ping back when I lived literally 3 or 4 miles from Bluesquare 2 (The old dedi location iirc)

    How can I fix this? Critique is welcome.

    It's your ISP.

    Personally I'm on AOL UK/TalkTalk (decent speeds actually), and 50ms of my [60ms] ping comes from the first hop.

    Call up your isp, and ask them to reduce interleaving. If your line is of good quality, they will do it and you will notice a reduction in your ping. Seriously, do this.

    What would you classify as a good line? our line can only get 4 megabits MAX if that is what you are trying to noose at.

    No, it's not the max speed your line can support, it's just the quality of the line. How old is your house? If it's like 50 years old, the line may well be 50 years old, they may not be able to do it.

    However, you may aswell ring them up, the worse they can say is no, and it doesn't cost anything.

    So your ISP is doing an average job I'd say. Just follow Gaw's friendly advise. Doeesn't hurt to call I'd say.
    (This house is also old, but renovated several years ago, perhaps also the copper wiring in the area)
    (I have 20mbit line btw)

    Someone make a speed test/ping test thread if you want, instead of 80% of posts here being results..

    They definitely do in the republic if your line is good, so I would assume it's the same anywhere else. The only real difference is that in Ireland, our speeds are just 1/3/7/14/21 instead you have a load of crazy shit like 4 :roll:

    Yeah my line is pretty good - according to Be it will take up to 20mbit :D

    I'll probably just switch to Be - I've heard they are as lenient as TalkTalk about RS downloads.

    Geez, just wanted to help him, so he can test his normal ping (outside of gaming).
    And show him, he need to take action, to fix his ping.
