I noticed no one seems to have made a pokemon go thread yet, let's keep this one general for posts that don't fit into other threads

 

I still haven't played it

My boss downloaded the APK and I got a video of him before walking round out front to the church across the road for the pokeshop thing, was funny, he caught a squirtle AKA I caught his squirtle because he couldn't do it

 

Has anyone tried spoofing their gps?

After my journey through the city yesterday i was halfway through level 11. I just evolved 44 pokemon (of which 4 of them were new to the pokedex) and, with the help of a lucky egg, got 48000 XP.
Brought me all the way to level 15.

 

found out that pokemon go has some easter eggs

1. When first starting out, don't choose any of the starter pokemon but instead keep walking away after about 4 or 5 times of the starter pokemon re-appearing a pikachu will show up which then you can have as your starter.

2. If you name your Eevee Rainer, Sparky or Pyro it will instantly evolve your Evee.

 

Not instantly as i currently have an eevee named Rainer in my pokemon squad though i have heard that it will evolve the eevee into the corresponding evolution. Rainer = Vaporeon, Sparky = Jolteon and Pyro = Flareon.

 

I had extremely shit luck in my pokemon endeavors, barely any rares and all the pokemon i have are extremely weak for my level

 

I'm of a half mind about Go. I don't think you can argue that it isn't an increadibly mediocre game (lack of things to actually do with caught Pokémon other than using for gyms or literally deleting them, lack of any gameplay for those in even slightly rural areas, lack of any gameplay at all other than the simplistic catching minigame and gym fights, the current lack of any actual depth to hunting Pokémon other than relying on luck or spending IRL money on lures, the seemingly unbalanced fact that gyms are going to be dominated simply by those who a. have most access to pokestops b. have the most active amount of pokemon in their home area for CP grinding, the fact that rare pokemon have no real pro over common ones and are just harder to level = better to just create an army of Hypnos etc etc) even for a mobile phone game, I do like the stuff its done on a meta level and reminds me of the respect for Nintendo, despite never having played a game developed by them. The fact they're getting millions of kids outside and likely socialising is brilliant and something only a company like Nintendo would actively seek as an objective (just behind making money, ofc). Even with a media that wants us to focus on the horror stories of robberies etc, I can only say a game is somewhat of a success when hearing about the gateway its serving for autistic children, people making shifts to use lures on children hospitals etc.

That said, I'm surprised that people aren't a little more critical of the fact that 1/4 of the games interface is a screen dedicated to microtransactions, in a game targeting children.

For the people that want to get the most out of their Lucky Egg, here's a website that will give you an indication of how much you can evolve and how much XP that will give you.

It doesnt factor in which pokemon will be new to the pokedex so keep that in mind as that will be another 1000 XP but also an extra 20/30 seconds to register the pokemon.

 

one pokestop in my town is altair in church and i don't even know how dfaq it's got an image too. Well i stopped playing pokimon, it's just borring for me...

 

The broken tracker got a fix.

Pokemon in the nearby list will now display a picture of a pokestop that is close to them (or grass patches if they are hidden within the rustling leaves).

Tracking a specific pokemon will bring up the pokestop on your map. If you reach that pokestop the pokemon will be somewhere close to it (might require you to walk around close to the pokestop)
