Getting Started:

1. Extract the .rar somewhere.
2. Edit config.ini to your liking (backspace=1 means the hook will be turned off when the message is empty).
3. Ensure you are running the 3.x series of the LCD Manager software.
4. Run DarkiSockG15.exe

Progress update:

- Added working clock
- Added login window
- Built multi-line text to bitmap rendering system which almost works properly (messages sometimes appear on top of other messages :lol
- Made a start on client communication code, but it's far from working. It loses the ability to send or receive anything after a couple of seconds (but remains connected properly :?)

Anyway, it works 100% now - I'm just adding a message buffer so you can scroll through message history and then I'll be done.

At the moment there is no error handling, so if the connection is interrupted the program will simply crash.

Forget about it. Time wasted. The SDK leaks memory every time the screen is updated, and I have no control over it.

I'm currently working on an alternative way of getting it to work in C# - Instead of using a .NET dll, I'm trying to implement an ActiveX one (although getting the bitmap sent to it is proving difficult )

I am currently rewriting the entire thing from scratch in Java.

Fucking biggest facepalm ever - I could have just stuck with the first C# wrapper, or the second, or the third, or the fourth... (you get the idea )

After going through a grand total of 9 different .NET wrappers and COM .dlls, and giving up on a Java remake (which I have now decided is the worst language ever) it turns out all I needed to do was reopen the connection every 20 seconds or so. Sure it makes the screen flicker a bit and randomly change app, but at least it works and doesn't leak a drop of memory. (Well, after reconnecting the C# Garbage Collector gets off its arse and actually cleans up some of the unmanaged memory. )

So tomorrow, once I clean things up, a new working version will be available


Anyway this sure was an exciting way to learn C# - I didn't even start with a "Hello, World!" application - I just jumped straight into coding this :lol:

Also make sure it's the only app running or it'll switch to other ones at random

But I will never need another G15 app running all the time, so that isn't a problem for me

And for those of you wondering, just extract it somewhere and run it - no need to install the font or register the .dlls

R5 released - now with low-level backlight flashing when a message is received, backspace hook MR light bug fixed, less annoying freezes, low-hanging characters are displayed properly where possible and button 2 now clears history on the first click and exits on the second.
