Server Downtime log

    Predicting another 12+ hour downtime in the next 48 hours if my attempts to fix another corrupt inode and switch to the LTS kernel fuck up

    An update on this:

    - fsck managed to run without getting stuck (no 12+ hour downtime)
    - we're now on LTS kernel (downgraded from linux 3.3.4 to 3.0.31)
    - our less trusted f3 is slowly exploding
    - 40 bad sectors and counting
    - smart amazingly still healthy

    Fingers crossed these bad sectors are not a new development and we've only just written to them - with 3TB total lifetime writes on the filesystem and it having never been over 90% full before (currently 98-99%), and no standard symptoms of disk failure, this is quite possible

    On second thoughts the LTS kernel runs like absolute shit - load average about 4x higher

    Rebooting to switch back sometime in the next 24 hours, inb4 something fucks up

    Load seems to have calmed down a bit now since boot - it appears the LTS kernel was at fault

    Perhaps linux 3.3.x isn't so bad after all :V
