StarMade server

This was first suggested by Arrk in the slothbox and many agreed but noone made a thread. As I'm in favor of having such server at least for testing it out, I'd like to suggest installing it. It's a minecraft-like voxel-based sandbox game but in space. You can build your own ship/ships, have giant space stations with docking system, there's built-in faction support.

its pretty easy to setup, just like minecraft. in the meantime you can try it out on my server zetsumei.co.uk:4242

 

Sounds amazing, trying it out now.

 

Thing is, I die in seconds in single player. I build a ship then I think the space is mine then bam. Dead.

 

Would anyone be interested if a GM server was set up? If a few more people were interested I'd look into it.

 

I'd give it a try. I'm not sure whether I'd like the game, but it seems interesting enough to give it a chance. And it's free of course.

Deathswap don't need a server, it's more like a "mod" for minecraft.

 

Its currently a tad brutal and unbalanced. Pirates come close to spawn and fire at you if you aren't hiding on the opposite side of them. Weapons rip through your crappy ship, aiming for thrusters first, leaving you with nothing at all after about 30 seconds of distant fire.
Also, I think your stuff gets lost when you re-log.
I would like a new game to play with GM people though, struggling to keep interest in both TF2 and Minecraft.

 

if you do put it up you might need to find away to update it automatically they are rolling out updates quickly i've had to update 2 times in one day lol

 

So, Zets, Joel and I have tested StarMade for a fair while now, and we can safely tell you,
PIRATES ARE FUCKING OP AS HELL!!!!

 

Have you guys tried AI controlled turrets and shields?

 

ventured too close to the sun and paid the consequences

after a funny few mins of thinking we were being shot and realising our ship was being burnt to pieces

 

changed a few things:

• taken admin off everyone so you can't spawn unlimited items.
• starting money is now 75000 credits.
• stocked up the shop as much as i can.

This is just to try it out see how the game is in some sort of normal mode. if you think its boring or too broken i will give people admin again.

 

Why would you do that?

 

Cos it broke and if rioter was to put one up i don't think he would want everyone having admin.

 

What could possibly go wrong?
