Traders Beware!

  1. Hooch Luckiest man alive.

a "trick" for scammers is on the loose....

some guy named /r/ Derpyhooves, though he probably changed name by now, hijacked my trade using a website called: tf2-items.com

i accidently clicked on it realising my mistake as soon as i pressed the link that the actual website tf2items doesn't have a f*cking ------ inbetween.

i closed the website immedeatly but that still gave him enpough time to get my unusual Toque, Luchadore, Hotrod and my bills hat...

just doing this in the hopes of preventing future cases like this.

... Indeed... What the fuck man. Thanks for mentioning this!

Steam will give you your items back, right?

not sure, i seem to recall that tradess are done at your own risk but then again, all the duped items came from people being hacked/hijacked etc so there might be a glimmer of hope that i get my items back.

Wow, I really feel for you man.

I know I was pissed when I lost a P Fetti Sober Stuntsman and your stuff is worth a whole lot more so I can't even imagine how pissed you are.

Thanks for pointing this out though, I reckon someone will probably run into this run soon and hopefully they'll remember your advice and not click the link.

  7. How did he get your items with a rogue site?

That shouldn't be possible unless you entered your steam account details..

he showed me a website that linked to his backpack, to show that his hat wasn't duped. i opened it, closed it right after and i could see 4 off my items in the trade window and before i could click cancel the trade was done.

i dont know how its done all i know is that it's been done.

  9. The website added items that weren't already up for trade to a trade?

Sounds like some very sneaky csrf

    sorry to hear :/

  11. Man that sucks :( Hope you get them back!

  12. If you didn't add the items to the trade yourself and you didn't enter your steam account details on the site, there should be no question of Valve giving you your items back as they've failed to add basic security precautions and it is 100% their fault

i only put in the hotrod myself seeing as we were gonna trade for that, after that he showed me the website which said his ID, never put in any of my details and then the other 3 items were added...

  14. CSRF without a doubt, the steam community system has always been pretty vulnerable to it
