Hello, I'm trying to connect my old pc monitor to my laptop.
I bought a VGA to HDMI cable because my laptop only has HDMI and I connected the cable but the monitor gets no signal for some reason, I did check the monitor and it does work on VGA to VGA with other devices.

    Any ideas?

Does the cable convert the signal too? (Did you buy a shit cheap one) Is the monitor recognized in device manager? Is your laptop plugged into the mains?

I tested the monitor on a DVR and on a PC, It took signal from the DVR but not from the computer which was working earlier on it, strange but I think something is wrong with the monitor itself.

Edit: @Gaw the monitor is not recognized in driver manager, I tried searching for new devices and restarted laptop and a couple more things but nothing worked.

is it a proper converter? you're converting Digital signal to analog signal which would probably explain it not working if its a cheapo one
