I've finally been accepted at an industrial placement. Haven't confirmed it yet, since I'm waiting to hear back from another potential workplace. Won't name it either, tad paranoid and don't fancy PR googling recent people who have got a placement in 'x' and finding me. That is all. Happy!
OK I've now accepted the placement. I'm going to be working for a year at Broadcom Bracknell, working with initially the validation and scripting of testing new implementations for their 3G (and possibly 4G) chips, getting myself familiar with their tools, and then go from there. It will be interesting. Unfortunately ARM, who I also applied to, are taking far too long to respond, and I can't really turn down this placement. £18.5k p/a, 25 holidays, free lunches. Damn.
Just think, you'll be looking for placements in two years time (if your course is a sandwich course with option for placement).
Fair enough. Totally depends what you're learning and what you're wanting to do. I don't know too much (hardly any) on 3G suite, but the point of being on placement is to learn. And learn I hopefully shall. If I don't, I'm screwed.
Well we've applied for a Games Development course lol, should be fun, good luck with your placement btw
