    The new tower design(without lights just yet).

    EDIT:
    Changelog from the original version (for dummies)
    • Added several graphic enhancements, doorways, window textures changed.
    • Reworked the size of the windows
    • Made the whole thing shorter to balance soldier opness
    • Made the inside ramps 1.5x wider, added flat spaces at the end of ramps.
    • Made the inside area bigger on each floor.
    • Changed the long ramps on the side for the future airbridges.
    • Fixed every other stupid block clips, texture misplacements and optimized the whole thing.

    UPDATE!


    The current version of Orange_x3_se2 is too unstable and it's a nightmare to 'upgrade' so I've decided the following:
    • Make an entire new orange map, similar to the old one. with all the new features listed above.
    • Make a bugfix version of the old one.

    I currently compiled a VERY EARLY RAW version of the map(alpha 0.0)for testing the scales, and textured everything with the orange dev texture.
    You can download the file here.
    WARNING:
    THIS MAP CONTAINS EPIC FAIL AND MAJOR BUGS.
    After the test I made some changes to the map:
    • Fixed most scalings to fit the 600 gravity.
    • Made a new tower (again) from scrap.

    Just some thoughts from me.

    This building here next to spawn. Not a particular fan of it. One of the things about Orange is the fact it's (very) open, perhaps too open. I would prefer to see that final spawn point a little more open than it currently is.

    And you probably know this already, but in the central tower, you can't go up the first ramp inside without great difficulty.

    The spawn points are different, but are you going to block enemies from going in the little hideouts there? Otherwise could become camping heaven/hell

    That's all to say for the moment.

    Yes I figured that aswell during my testrun, so it will most probably removed.
    As I stated earlier I made an entire new tower from scrap so every error there is fixed.
    And that's a problem because? They can still snipe people running towards it.

    EDIT:
    Cactus If you would've taken the time to look at the 2nd point's design closely you could have noticed that the entrance of the non-tower side, so it faces the last point, there are 2 doorways that are lined up thus letting snipers in the spawn snipe the point.

    just curious but when Loll finishes this map... will it be used? seeing as there have been a few people who tried to "remake" orange and none of the maps got in.

  17. On #7 probably no as it has too many gameplay changes and may kill off server activity, but we'll see

    It's about time I finished _me but as you can see from _se2 my hammer skills leave a lot to be desired :P

    How about we advertise the new map on our orange server, so that regulars/fans who dont check the forums will know about it existence? I was thinking about the same way as the "enjoy GM, put |GM| in name" message.

    As I said earlier, I will make a bugfix version of the original se2, to go on the #7 server.
    The new orange map will probably need a new server.
