  1. Kiethy Fluffy..

I was wondering if i can ask you guys a question about my internet as you seem like you would know at least something. For some reason, out of no-where, my browsing speed on my laptop and the browsing speed on the computer my mom has and even the speed on her phone seems have been severely halted. We cant even watch a youtube video without it buffering every 5 seconds. My moms computer cant even load speedtest.

Thats what i got when i tested my laptop. The ping is fine but it has such an unusual download and upload speed.

  2. If it's the same on a wired connection as wireless one the only thing you can do is phone sky and ask that the hell is up with your broadband.

Obviously you just need to stop downloading as much porn and sky will stop throttling you.

IIRC Skele used to have this issue all the time. He'd download stupid amounts of anime and Virgin would throttle him like fuck until he rang up and complained.

    You could try that.

Before I upgraded to BT, I had Sky for years. I don't know how many, but we switched from Dial Up to Sky Broadband and were with them up until last year.

Only issue I had was one of the routers died, but it was replaced real fast and everything was k again.

Never had any issues with my actual line.

My neighbors had sky for years and constantly had to ask us for our wifi password (they're pretty awesome people so we don't mind) because their internet dropped on a regular basis or slowed down to the point where it was unusable. That being said I know other people on Sky that have relatively few problems as well.

  15. Just chiming in with my 5 cents, I've had sky before and had no end of problems with them blocking ports for games (they managed to block Eve Online once for about 3 weeks, I never did see that subscription money back from them...), their claim was that I was downloading torrents through those ports, but the fact was my torrents never even slowed, so... Moved to Virgin, might be more expensive but totally worth it for the speeds I get. On my PS3 (connected via Eth.) I get 75Mb/s down and abut 10Mb/s up.

It's a sad day when you live in a first world country and 16.24Mb/s is faster than half the rest of your country. :/

They're busy suing Microsoft over Skype trademark.

Lawyer money's gotta come from somewhere.

    copy pasty from wikipedia:
eBay acquired Skype Technologies S.A. in September 2005 and in April 2009 announced plans to spin it off in a 2010 Initial Public Offering (IPO).[5] In September 2009,[6]Silver Lake,Andreessen Horowitz and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board announced the acquisition of 65% of Skype for $1.9 billion from eBay, valuing the business at $2.75 billion. Skype was later acquired by Microsoft in May 2011 for $8.5 billion.

    why are sky suing them?

Because somehow, consumers will think that Skype, used for voice and video conferencing, will be mixed up with Sky, a satellite TV provider. I suppose the only common ground is Skype calls and Sky's landline phone service, but you'd gotta think that the average consumer isn't that stupid.

The same being Skydrive had to rename to OneDrive, because the general public will think SkyDrive, a cloud storage solution, will be mixed up with Sky, a satellite TV provider.
