the 270x is better then my current Hd 6870 by quite a bit. http://anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1336 Though i might get a 280 or 285 card in a few weeks. and before my hd 6870 i had a hd 5770.
sitting here with 5:4 screen and radeon x1950. Such gaming rig-a and mine is like a little puppy waiting to grow up
I still remember that card. I'm pretty sure it would still be able to tackle new games today, if it wasn't for the fact it doesn't support DX11.

Big computer is an intel core i7-2600k cpu base 3.40 ghz but overclocked to 3.70 with 8gb of ram with a GTX 580 TI card in it. I use this one primarily for gaming. The laptop is an asus n56v with an intel core i5-3230M cpu base 2.60 ghz and can be overclocked to 3.4 (imo never a good idea to overclock a laptop though). It has 8gb of ram as well and a geforce 740M graphics card. I use this one for pretty much everything from school to gaming. To anyone looking for a laptop you can use for everything I can strongly recommend the Asus N-series. It is fantastic.
