  1. Twiz Dat real-life scout.

    I have no idea what my specs really are cept for a few of them;

6-year old rig, never upgraded anything :> the thing is literally falling apart.

ATI Radeon X500 video card :<
    1022 MB DDR1 RAM :<
Quantum's little config, max FPS settings, lower poly model and texture packs: 2 FPS on full servers :>> (THAT's A GAIN OF 1 FPS AS OPPOSED TO HAVING NO CONFIGS!!)
Trust mouse, some crappy €4,- thingy. It somehow works better than the €60,- mouse the dude next door has xD
Logitech, some kind of crappy keyboard.

Whoever dares to claim that retro (ie a 6-year old pc that never got any maintenance/upgrading) is not awesome is a fool. 2 fps on an empty server ftw!

  2. My new rig: (new stuff in italics)

CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t (with a light OC to 3.2GHz and 3.6 turbo core)
    CPU Cooler: Akasa Venom
    RAM: 4 GB Corsair DDR3 9-9-9-24 1600MHz (running at ~1550MHz)
    MOBO: Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H
    GPU: Asus GTX 275 896MB (with a ~10% OC)
    Storage: Crucial C300 64GB SSD (350MB/s ftw) & Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
    Keyboard: Logitech G15 v2
    Mouse: Logitech G5 v1
    Monitors: Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW 24" LCD @1900x1200 & Dell P790 17" CRT @1280x1024
    Headset: Steelseries Siberia v1
    Case: NZXT Apollo black

    Update :D

    HP Pavilion DV7 notebook PC
    ATI Radeon HD 4530
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    Some other stuff.

Anyway, it runs anything at medium~max quality :>

    Hexa-Core ftw. N1. ^^

I'll skip the idea for an Intel-Hexa-Core for myself for a while and will simply wait for Intels Sandy Bridge (~30% faster as Nehalem at the same clocks) Architecure .... will need a new MoBo for it anyways .... goin for the OCTA-Core-Extreme Edition, allready saved the money for it - 8 Cores / 16 Threads, probably @ 3.33 Ghz Default Clock - Fuck yeah! ::: DDDD /Nerd-Jackoff

  6. Knud Phat beats only

Why not go for double CPU-socket motherboard?
2x6 cores (And 2x8 if you have the money)

    :) :P

Well, here you go. A photo from my computer table. I wish you can see the texts there. D:

Just to clarify in a non-Gaw way, for future reference.
You have one CPU with four cores and 8 threads (this is known as hyperthreading) :).

Just an update to my PC, got rid of the old E6300 C2D and bought an E3300 off eBay for £19 posted (Bargain!). Got it up to 4Ghz with reasonable temps (high temps stop me from running 4.2Ghz 24/7). Heres a validation of my stable 24/7 overclock on it -

Wait is this a bad thing? (I'm not the most knowledgable at computers etc.)

  12. Not really no

  13. coffeejunky GM's Tea-boy

Nope, it's just the way the i7 series is. For all intents and purposes windows will behave as if you had 8 CPUs, it's just that nerds like to be pedantic.
You can read more about hyperthreading here -
Hyper-threading - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  14. Also hyperthreading is extremely good for SRCDS - might as well be 8 cores

22:41 - Spykooh: but you only have 4 logical CPU's
22:42 - [GM] London123456: What is difference between logical and vitrual?

Considering source supports six cores right now (and very poorly at that) and the clock speed is.. fucking 1.7GHz :P

    Yeah

  17. SRCDS is single threaded

Issues with decent PCIE-performance as far as i know .... these platines arent made for extensive gaming, but for serving as some sort of Server-replacement ...

Also: 8 Core should be enough for me in 2011, 3 Cores for gaming, 3 for transcoding Hentai files for my iPhone and 2 Cores for Pr0n HD Streams, just in case i feel the need to watch'em ...

I can see the text fine. What bothers me is wether you got it new and at what price?

I got a new HP laptop (HP notebook DV7) at €599 that has better specs (4 gb DDR3 RAM, ATI radeon HD 4530 video card.. not sure if the cpu is better tho)...

I like the owl tho :>

edit: cpu is intel core 2 duo ~2.2 GHz...
